Alphonse Legros (1837-1911)
French later British painter etcher, sculptor, and medalist. He moved to London in 1863 and was later nationalized as a British citizen. He was important as a teacher in the British etching revival. The sitter was Sir Edward John Poynter. Published in 1877 as part of the National Portrait Gallery Collection.
