After 3rd-7th Century Kofun. Haniwa clay sculpture of a horse. The horse is a very important figure in Samurai society. Associated with the village of Motomachi, port of Kongjo in Musashi Province in present day Tokyo. Pieces like this are usually found in private collections or museums and rarely come up for sale. Chop signature is location underneath. It is an old piece, unfortunately someone not knowing the value, painted it. It has repairs to all four legs, still a very nice piece.
